Traktor Pro 3 best dvs? or just better?

New and improved features in Traktor pro 3. Best DVS? or just better?

use Traktor pro 3 Scratch from any soundcard
Harmonic mixing
land on beat with FLX
new timestretch algorithm
new effects
new look

Lots of new things with the new Traktor Pro 3. First of all the user interface is updated, and many other things like the algorithm for the effects  & timestretch is new. Also new features for mixing  in harmonic key.

It looks good and the program feels solid. No crashes since upgrading from Traktor scratch 2. All my playlists are still there, and the music. I had to re-configure the external controller I have allongside the DVS. And the mapping for the old controller didnt migrate 100%, but after manually mapping the system was up and running again.

Im not a user who uses all of the functions in the software, so I visited native-instruments to see exactly what the new features were. Harmonic mixing is a new feature for me. The efx list is updated too. But first into the Harmonic mixing part.

Just when I thought the mixing side of djing wouldn't be more advanced as its allready is, there is also harmonic mixing. Both overlapping songs uses the same key(root note?) so that they are in tune with eachother. I know that there are external software that analyzes what key songs are in, but with traktor pro 3 its all in the same software.

Traktors new update includes extras you need to configure in the user settings to see, and thats the key the tracks are in the browser section. the interface is modular.

I did get very focused on the harmonic side of mixing since of this update, so I even started to mix my new mixes in key. In the previous post the Deep house mix/playlist all of the songs are in key.

it gets really difficult to select songs by ear when mixing in harmonic. But by changeing the track order I got the songs to overlap "in tune". Plus you can also change the pitch of the key, but this slightly Changes the drums since this is on the complete track and not only on the melody. But works very well without sounding to "pitched".

I really like the effects in this program, but I find myself not using the effects that much since the effects not always blends with the songs, or takes away from the smoothness of the mix Im trying to create. But they are there and I hope to use it more. The efx list is longer than it was before. The CPU load does look less jumpy han before when using the efx.

Timestretching? awsome! my mix tracks can stay in tune even if I pitch one track to be in the same tempo as the other. No issues with digital artifact.

Also new improved mapping of midi controllers straight from the browser without having to dig into the user settings. I find the user settings midi mapping to be hard to understand so this new feature is welcomed.

1- feature that Im would like to see is the soundcloud or spotify inside the program, but reading the user forums I understand that this feature is included in the basic traktor version but not the Pro version since of its more advanced features.

This version of Traktor is better faster and stronger.

Add some vocals to your mix.

Add some vocals to your set. With a microphone you can easily add flavor to a mix. You can use the vocals to transition to another track, with a small paus between the songs you can drop the vocal just before the next song comes in. Most DJ-mixers have a microphone input. But make sure  not to overdrive the microphone when speaking, or the sound might go into cheap karaoke style. There are useful techniques when speaking into a microphone by holding your thumb inbetwen the microphone membrane and your mouth, this is to reduce the "pop" sound or just by turning the mic at a 45 degree angle. Using these techniques will make your vocals sound cleaner. Have a notepad with some words are maybe rhymes written on it, just to know what to say when you want to drop the vocals. If mixing and speaking is not possible at the same time, then wait until after you transitioned the track into the other, the intro to the next track is often not as busy as a Chorus section. Also do speak

DJ Rasoul 1998 (Large)

DJ Rasoul 1998 (Large) Super record from the later end of the 90's. This EP has 3 songs, Let the music, Slingshot and Francisco Nights. Side A with "Let the music" has a dark bassline and acoustic piano, togheter with strings and the classic house rythm. Dub echos and analogue synth sounds. The song isnt just a 4-bar loop. It has lots of variations. In the middle of the song a soul vocal is heard. Also percussive elements. The later end of the song seams happier,  like the minor chords are swapped with major scale instead. What I dont like about this song is the tb303 "like"-sounds towards the end. It gives the impression of a comedy sound. On side B on "Slingshot" the quality is high on the production. With groovy basslines and arpeggio-like elements. The rythm is more disco on this song. 1/3-into the song the loopy groove evolves with a acoustic piano. Then 2/3- the song goes back to the loopy status again. I like this song, its groovy and has catchy

using as few records as possible in your dj mix

Most of us wants to have a giant record collection, but when a gig is coming then you have to carry all the records to the show. This article is about using minimum amount of records in a dj mix. Lets say you play a 2 hour dj show. that means you need +- 50 records in a crate. If you only have 10 records, would you make it thru a dj mix then? If a housesong is aprox 6 min long and you want to make a 60 minute dj mix. then you'll need 10 records for the dj set. 10 records is not much for a mix. What you can do is mix in the b sides too, but then the same artist will appear again in the  playlist. You can also play certain songs to the 3 minute point, then mix in another record and then a few song in the set you can reuse the previous song from the 3 minute point again, from a break of the song. Or play the best song first and last to extend it. Playing both the b-sides and reuse the same song as earlier will stretch the length of your mix. Buying an EP costs about the same as a 12&q
