Playlist on vinyl

About 25 minute long playlist with various artists. The genre is house from the 90's and 2020. With 5 artists. Underground music. Some of the records are included in a previous post, DJ rasoul ( https://oraziodelcore.blogspot.com/2020/06/dj-rasoul-1999-large.html ) and xosar.(  https://oraziodelcore.blogspot.com/2020/06/3-house-records-taurus-xosar.html ). HK is on a swedish record label called västkransen. These are cool records, and have a unique sound. I also included my record called fresstyle on vinyldubplate. I hope i dont give the impression of being an ego for including my song. The tempo was right when beatmatching with the other songs. Mixing music on analog vinyl is difficult, you can only use your ears, no software to help you sync the music.   Orazio Del Core - Freestyle (dubvinyl) HK - Angry Birds Blue 6 - Do you like it? DJ Rasoul - Slingshot Xosar - Tropical Cruise

DJ Rasoul 1998 (Large)

DJ Rasoul 1998 (Large) Super record from the later end of the 90's. This EP has 3 songs, Let the music, Slingshot and Francisco Nights. Side A with "Let the music" has a dark bassline and acoustic piano, togheter with strings and the classic house rythm. Dub echos and analogue synth sounds. The song isnt just a 4-bar loop. It has lots of variations. In the middle of the song a soul vocal is heard. Also percussive elements. The later end of the song seams happier,  like the minor chords are swapped with major scale instead. What I dont like about this song is the tb303 "like"-sounds towards the end. It gives the impression of a comedy sound. On side B on "Slingshot" the quality is high on the production. With groovy basslines and arpeggio-like elements. The rythm is more disco on this song. 1/3-into the song the loopy groove evolves with a acoustic piano. Then 2/3- the song goes back to the loopy status again. I like this song, its groovy and has catchy

use your mixers mic input as a extra channel

DJ-Mixers often has a mic input. You can use that input as an extra channel, for a keyboard etc that has a line signal. But you'll need a line box that converts line signal level to a mic signal. If a keybard is connected to a mixers mic channel directly the sound will be distorted. So a line box or a di box converts the signal to the right level. The input accepts phono jacks and the output XLR. If your mixers dont have an XLR input, you can use a xlr to phono cable. DI Boxes comes in many sizes and priceclasses. The audio quality depends on what linebox you choose, The higher the pricetag the better the quality. But a low cost Di box will work too. They go from 20 Euros and up. Just choose one that converts a phono line signal to a xlr mic signal. A passive line box will do. So now that you have a keyboard/sampler/drummachine on the mic channel lets look on how you can overdub the existing mix with it. If you for example use a sampler. The sampler will overdub the other channels

using as few records as possible in your dj mix

Most of us wants to have a giant record collection, but when a gig is coming then you have to carry all the records to the show. This article is about using minimum amount of records in a dj mix. Lets say you play a 2 hour dj show. that means you need +- 50 records in a crate. If you only have 10 records, would you make it thru a dj mix then? If a housesong is aprox 6 min long and you want to make a 60 minute dj mix. then you'll need 10 records for the dj set. 10 records is not much for a mix. What you can do is mix in the b sides too, but then the same artist will appear again in the  playlist. You can also play certain songs to the 3 minute point, then mix in another record and then a few song in the set you can reuse the previous song from the 3 minute point again, from a break of the song. Or play the best song first and last to extend it. Playing both the b-sides and reuse the same song as earlier will stretch the length of your mix. Buying an EP costs about the same as a 12&q
